Weekdays until 6 pm: Access is unrestricted, but current, valid photo ID must be shown at all times.
Evenings after 6 pm/Weekends/Holidays: Access is restricted. Patrons must show current, valid identification in one of the following categories:
- PennCard or Penn Alumni Card
- Photo ID from HUP, CHOP, Pennsylvania, or Presbyterian hospitals or UPHS affiliate
- Biomedical Library Barcode accompanied by a photo ID
- Library Courtesy Card accompanied by a photo ID
- Photo ID from Drexel, Bryn Mawr, Haverford, Swarthmore, or a Research Libraries Group Shares Member
Children of Penn faculty, staff, and students and other Library patrons may enter and remain in the Biomedical Library when accompanied by a parent.
The library is not open to elementary or high school students, but arrangements may be made for class groups, or for high school students who need to use depository documents. Please call the Reference Desk, (215) 898-5818, Monday through Friday, during working hours to inquire about arrangements.
Guests: Penn faculty, staff, or students who wish to bring guests into the Biomedical Library on evenings or weekends should call the Reference Desk, (215) 898-5818, or stop by the Reference Desk in advance to arrange for access.
Special Arrangements: Researchers who have special access needs are invited to call the Reference Desk, (215) 898-5818, Monday through Friday, during working hours to make arrangements.
