Information on Franklin for Library Courtesy Borrowers

Recall

Library Courtesy Borrowers may recall items that are charged to another borrower. This may be done directly through Franklin, www.franklin.library.upenn.edu.

To place a recall request, first search for a specific work in the Franklin catalog. Once you have displayed a bibliographic record, click on the place request link that appears near the top of the screen.

On the login page:  Enter your last name and, for your Penn Library ID, the twelve digit number that appears directly under the barcode on your Courtesy Borrower Card. Click the Login button and you will be taken to the request menu where you will see the option to Recall. Click OK, complete the form and then submit the request.

Delivery time for recalled items is typically a minimum of 10 days (the current borrower has 10 days from the recall date to return the item). You should also be aware that the item may be recalled from you as soon as it has been charged to your account.

Delivery between Penn Libraries

Library Courtesy Borrowers may request delivery of an available book from one Penn library to another (including LIBRA and Library at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies). This may be done directly through Franklin, www.franklin.library.upenn.edu.

To place a delivery request, first search for a specific work in the Franklin catalog. Once you have displayed a bibliographic record, click on the place request link that appears near the top of the screen.

On the login page:  Enter your last name and, for your Penn Library ID, the twelve digit number that appears directly under the barcode on your Courtesy Borrower Card. Click the Login button and you will be taken to the request menu where you will see the option for "Get from Storage or a Penn Library". Click OK, complete the form and then submit the request.
