Qualitative Data Analysis Software Symposium
Is it time to take a second look at Qualitative Data Analysis software? Encoding texts? Ethnographic work? What is the role of software in qualitative analysis? Can software save you time? Improve consistency? What are the differences between the available packages? What are their strengths and weaknesses? How difficult are these packages to learn and use? The University of Pennsylvania Libraries are sponsoring a symposium designed to help researchers who use qualitative methods learn about available software for analysis. Raymond Maietta, Ph.D., a leading consultant on Qualitative Research Methods, and an expert on the use of Software in Qualitative Research, will give an overview of the role of QDA software, and will introduce participants to the leading software packages in the area. Following Dr. Maietta's overview of the packages, we will hear from faculty in a number of fields about their experience using Qualitative Data Analysis Software. Packages discussed will include: NVivo, MaxQDA, Atlas.Ti, etc.
