Edward Mack was born in Stuttgart, Germany and came to the United States when he was five years old. He entered the Philadelphia Institute for the Blind in 1844. Mack lived in New London, Connecticut for a brief period but then returned to Philadelphia. His principal output as a composer was in the form of dance music and marches for the piano.
There are thirty-five compositions by Edward Mack in the collection.
