Lewis Mumford: A Bibliography / Acknowledgements

Return to: Lewis Mumford: A Bibliography

I owe a profound debt of gratitude to Lewis Mumford for the encouragement he gave me and for the many kindnesses he extended to me during the period this bibliography was in preparation. He helped me clarify numerous obscure details, gave me full access to his personal files, and reviewed my manuscript at two different points in its preparation. His willing assistance and sound counsel spared me many hours of search time and much lengthy correspondence. I wish also to give special thanks to Mrs. Mumford for her warm hospitality during my two visits to the Mumford home in Amenia, New York. This association with the Mumfords was a wonderful and unexpected joy that developed out of the preparation of this bibliography.

I am also indebted to my colleague Carrol Gensert, inter-library loan librarian at Sears Library of Case Western Reserve University, who spared no effort in helping me locate many periodicals and other publications not available in the Cleveland area.
