Edgar Allan Poe: 1828
Charleston, South Carolina.

In November 1928, Edgar Allan Poe’s military unit was moved to Fort Moultrie in South Carolina, an island in the main entrance to Charleston Harbor.

In December 1828, Poe’s unit moved to Fortress Monroe, Virginia, located at Old Point Comfort, at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay.
