William Makepeace Thackeray: 1845

William Makepeace Thackeray lived at 88, Saint James's Street from 1845 to 1846. He wrote The Luck of Barry Lyndon there.

His residence at 88 Saint James's Street was close to Marlborough House and faced Saint James's Palace.

It was also close to Saint James's Coffee House. The coffee house was often mentioned in publications such as the Spectator or the Tatler, and was frequented by Whig politicians and writers such as Jonathan Swift and Joseph Addison.
