William Wordsworth attended the Hawkshead Free Grammar School from May 1779 to June 1787. While they were pupils there, he and his brother Richard lodged and boarded with Hugh Tyson, a master joiner, and his wife Ann, for whom Wordsworth felt considerable familial affection.
