William Wordsworth: 1847
Rydal, Cumbria
Dora Wordsworth (born 16 August 1804), daughter of William and Mary Wordsworth, died of tuberculosis at Rydal Mount on 9 July 1847. She was survived by her parents, her husband Edward Quillinan the Irish poet and lieutenant, and her two step-daughters Mima and Rotha.Rash Field, located next to Saint Mary's Church, had been bought by Wordsworth, who had intended to build a house for Dora and her family there. The house was never built because of Dora's death. Instead, Wordsworth planted a field of daffodils at the site in her memory.
