Landscapes:
The
South Asian subcontinent is well known for its breath-taking landscapes,
ranging from the mountains of the Himalayas to the calm expanses of the
Arabian sea. Mary B. Wheeler's travels brought her to a wide variety of
breathtaking places. In Kashmir, she climed and captured the sublime beauty
of the mountains with her unfailing lens, and explored the serpentine
rivers flowing across the rocky landscape. In Sri Lanka, she strolled
along the beaches, recording life along the shore. She put equal energy
into her visits to many of South Asia's magnificent gardens, and her explorations
of wildlife in the jungles. From the urban to the rural, and the mountains
to the sea, Mary B. Wheeler's collection offers many views of how the
medium of landscape can define place and mood, bringing distant places
to life for the viewer.
