Marc Lescarbot, Histoire de la Nouvelle France... Paris: Jean Milot, 1609. |
| Marc Lescarbot was a French lawyer who accompanied his client, Jean de Biencourt, Seigneur de Poutrincourt, to what is now Nova Scotia. He returned a year later and published several accounts of "New France." Lescarbot espoused a positive view of native life, using the natives as foils for a critique of French society. | |
