Pierre Pelleprat,
Introduction a la langue des Galibis, Sauvages de la Terre Ferme de l'Amerique meridionale.

Paris: Sebastien et Gabriel Cramoisy, 1655.

Pelleprat, a French Jesuit, was posted to the northern coasts of South America, where he worked with the indigenous peoples in a nominally Spanish area. In his introduction to "Galibi" or Caribe, Pelleprat attempts to bridge two cultural universes.
