Letter from Alan Hovhaness to Oliver Daniel
no date
Between 1955 and 1968 Stokowski offered the world premiere performances of seven works by the American composer Alan Hovhaness. In this letter to Stokowski's principal biographer, Oliver Daniel, Hovhaness writes of his admiration for Stokowski as a champion of contemporary composers, noting that he knows of no other great conductor "to whom we all owe so much--who is so much the spirit of the age we live in and the age which is being born."
