BorrowDirect partners with the Center for Research Libraries

Penn Libraries are pleased to announce the addition of the Center for Research Libraries' holdings to BorrowDirect, the libraries popular resource sharing network. The Center for Research Libraries (CRL), a consortium of over 250 research libraries, has a collection that consists of over 5,000,000 volumes with particular collection strengths from five major regions in the world: Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Latin America.

The Center for Research Libraries unique holdings are available to be searched and requested through the BorrowDirect interface. Requests for CRL materials will be routed through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system, allowing for 180 day loan period not only for books, but also dissertations, journals, and newspapers in print or microform.

BorrowDirect enables faculty, students and staff at Penn to search and request materials from the combined collections of Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Yale and the Center for Research Libraries, making over 50 million volumes available, and to directly request expedited delivery of circulating items. Materials are generally delivered within 3-5 days and may be used for 6 weeks with one 6 week renewal.
