New JSTOR e-journals

The Penn Library has added two new JSTOR e-journal collections that currently provide complete backfiles for almost 100 major journals in the arts, humanities, and social sciences: the JSTOR Arts & Sciences IV Collection and JSTOR Arts & Sciences Complement collection.

The JSTOR Arts & Sciences Complement is JSTOR's "Missing Persons" collection, offering major journals that JSTOR was unable to include in earlier collections. Among the disciplines represented are African studies, Latin American studies, American Indian studies, anthropology and archaeology, economics and business, classical studies, geography, history, history of science and technology, music, political science, and sociology. The Complement emphasizes journals that cross discipline boundaries. Significant titles include:

  • Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, 1890- (5-yr moving wall).
  • Journal of the Early Republic, 1981- (3-yr moving wall).
  • Proceedings of the Academy of Political Science, etc., 1910-1991.
  • Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society, 1838- (5-yr moving wall).
  • Transactions of the American Philosophical Society, 1769- (5-yr moving wall).
The Complement currently contains 27 titles and will grow to at least 150 titles by the end of 2008. Future additions will include:
  • Africa: Journal of the International African Institute, 1928- .
  • Bulletin of the American Schools of Oriental Research, 1919- .
  • Dumbarton Oaks Papers, 1941- .
  • Feminist Review, 1979- .
  • International Journal of American Linguistics, 1917- .

JSTOR Arts & Sciences IV Collection offers more than 70 journals in business, law, public policy and administration, psychology, and education.

  • Child Development, 1930- (5-yr moving wall).
  • Elementary School Journal, etc., 1900- (5-yr moving wall).
  • The English Journal, 1912- (3-yr moving wall).
  • Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, etc., 1910- (3-yr moving wall).
  • Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, 1936- (5-yr moving wall).
  • Review of Educational Research, 1931- (5-yr moving wall).
  • School Review, American Journal of Education, 1893- (2-yr moving wall).
  • Yale Law Journal, 1891- (3-yr moving wall).
Upon its completion at the end of 2006, the collection will include at least 100 titles. Future additions will include:
  • American Journal of Psychology, 1887- .
  • Journal of Educational Measurement.
  • University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
