What can I do with PennAlerts ?

How do I connect to PennAlerts and add journal titles?

Click on

and enter your PennKey ID and Password

Select My Alerts from the menu and click on Add Journal

Enter the name of the journal and select Add PennAlert

How do I browse for journals to add to my PennAlerts profile?

Select My Alerts, click on Add Journal and then click on E-Journal Listings

Select a subject area

Click on the PennAlerts icon to add journals to profile

How do I have e-mail alerts sent to me?

Click on My Profile from the menu

Make sure the Send alerts by email box is checked

Enter the email you want to use to receive alerts

Click on Update Profile

How do I display contents pages?

Click on My Alerts

How do I display the text of the article?

The names of journals, issues, and in some cases articles, are hyperlinked. Click on the links to go to the full text via our PennText service. Even if an individual article does not have its own hyperlink, clicking on the issue or journal name will often give you access to the full text of the articles in it

Alerts are currently updated and sent out once a week, usually on Monday morning.

Alerts are available for most of the electronic journals in the Penn Library's E-Journals listings, as well as for some other selected journals.

Although there is no limit on the number of journals for which you may request alerts, keep in mind that selecting many titles will generate a correspondingly large number of alerts.
