The Penn Library invites Penn undergraduates to submit an essay of not more than 1,500 words on the following topic:
"The British colonists who created the American republic fought for the idea of freedom and the cause of independence.
But what did they really understand by 'freedom' and is that understanding still relevant today?"

First prize: $1,000.00
Two runner-up prizes: $500 each
Deadline: Friday, April 25th
