Philadelphia Tribune (1912-2001)
(04-AUG-08)

Almost a century of the Philadelphia Tribune online, with access to every page from every available issue as full page and article images along with searchable full text.

The Tribune is the largest African-American newspaper in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and has historically served the black residents of this area by covering crime, social events and sports, organizational and political meetings, and church news, as well as by offering editorials. It has also included advertisements for help wanted, houses for sale and for such items as beauty aids, medicines, and services oriented to the African-American community.

Note that the Tribune was founded in 1884 but issues up to 1912 were destroyed in an accident--they are not accessible in any format.
