Mark's Café Opens in Van Pelt-Dietrich
(01-OCT-03)

At last: the Library gets cappuccino! The long-awaited Mark's Café on the ground floor of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center is open to the public.

Library visitors are invited to eat, drink, chat, and think in the Café, which features indoor and outdoor seating and wireless and wired Internet connections. In addition to various coffee beverages and smoothies, sandwiches, sushi, salads, and pastries are on the menu. When the kitchen closes, patrons have access to the indoor seating area and vending machines.

In order to protect library collections, Mark's customers will be asked to confine their eating to the Café's indoor and outdoor seating areas. If containers have secure lids, however, beverages may be taken into the Library - except in the following areas:

  • first floor: Electronic Lookup Center and Microforms area
  • ground floor: Rosengarten Computer Lab, Long Island Friends computer area, & the video viewing stations
  • second floor: Safra Business Research Center
  • fifth floor: Class of '37 Computer Lab
  • sixth floor: Annenberg Rare Book & Manuscript Library

Stop by Mark's Café to study - or take a break from studying! - or to meet with peers and colleagues for lunch and coffee. Lectures and readings will also take place at the Café.

Mark's Café was made possible by major gifts from Bernard (W'53) and Patricia Goldstein and the Café's namesake, Mark Goldstein (C'83).
