Well, not quite. Given the choice of cutting more than $100,000 of unique titles, or maintaining titles by cutting the print journals and keeping the online versions, we have chosen to drop print wherever it is financially advantageous to do so. The alternative was to cancel several hundred titles. We recognize that this decision will not please everyone. It will, however, preserve access to needed journals.
Effective January 2004, more than 300 journals in the biomedical collection will be available online-only. This means that important journals will no longer be available on the Biomedical library shelves.
We expect this number will increase as new contracts come up for renewal.
