Endowed Library Funds for Collection Development
Library funds have been established by Penn alumni, by the parents and children of alumni, by faculty members, by classes, by corporations, by foundations, and by non-alumni Friends of the University. Today there are more than 180 endowed library funds.

Some funds are dedicated to a particular subject. Some are spent at the Library Director's discretion, wherever the need is greatest. Recently, some donors have asked that the funds be used for information in various electronic formats, as well as books and periodicals—a trend the library encourages.
