Timeline

Generous support from the Board propels the vision for the Special Collections Center into the planning and design stages.
2007 - The Libraries engage Gensler, the global design and architecture firm, to create a transformative design for the Center.
Winter 2010 - A $4.25 million gift from a member of the Board of Overseers, the largest ever from a living donor, secures the needed funding for Phase I of the renovation project
Summer 2010 - Designs for Phase I of the project are finalized and additional funding for the second and third Phases is secured.
Fall 2010 - The renovation and construction begins on the sixth floor of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library to create a new Special Collections Center. This marks the beginning of a three-phase project.
By the end of calendar year 2010 - 100% of the Libraries' Board have contributed to the Special Collections Center.
October 2011 - Phase I complete.
Winter 2011 - Construction on the fifth floor glass box begins.
Spring 2012 - Construction on Phase II begins.
