The Sidebar Editor

The directory tree on the sidebar:
*The sidebar of the Library's website is organized by directory: The sidebar on every page shows a set of links for the local directory plus sets of links for parent and grandparent directories if they exist.
*A sidebar chunk for the most local directory is shown at the top of the sidebar. If there is a parent directory, its sidebar chunk is shown below that, and a grandparent chunk (if it exists) is shown below that. In other words, the line of descent is traced (in sidebar chunks) from the bottom of the sidebar upward to the local directory at the top.
To access the sidebar editor:
*Go to the index page of the appropriate directory and hit the SBE (SideBar Editor) button at the bottom of the sidebar.
*To create or edit the sidebar for a particular directory, you must access the editor via the appropriate index page:
-    To edit a parent directory, go to the parent directory index page before hitting the sidebar editor.
-    Access a grandparent directory's SideBar Editor via the grandparent's index page.
The sidebar is integrally related to the directory index page
Always designate an index page for your directory
In the Page Content Editor, check the box marked "Index Document for '/thisdirectoryname/' directory"
(3rd field from the top).
Designate an index page
Warning #1: How to create a sidebar that will never be seen:
It is possible to create a sidebar for a directory without creating an index page. But the sidebar will never be seen.
Warning #2: How to create a doubled sidebar:
It is possible to mark 2 different pages as the index page for a directory. This will cause all the sidebar entries to be doubled.
