Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Welfare and Charitable Organization Collections

Penn Libraries have a number of materials related to socially-driven organizations within the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania region. While browsing through the stacks, researchers have access to organization reports and records that often date back to the early 19th century.

Collection Strengths

Annual reports from organizations can provide a rich history of an organization's activities, concerns, and vision for the future. The Penn Libraries hold an array of annual reports from many Philadelphia and Pennsylvania organizations. The socially-focused organizations can be found within the HV classification range. These reports cover topics such as child welfare, charities, city planning, prisons, social services, housing, and urban renewal.

Unfortunately, due to the age of many of these records the descriptive data is often limited and often may not have one universal term to link most records together.
