Overview

Collection Description

The Penn Libraries' political science collection is based in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. The focus of the collection reflects the broad orientation of the academic program; that is, it covers political theory, American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and public policy and administration. Additional materials of interest to Penn political scientists are also collected, including law - especially constitutional law, philosophy, history, general social sciences, and military science, including arms control and strategic studies.

The Penn Libraries has been a federal depository library for U.S. government documents since at least the 19th century, and also a United Nations depository, and a partial depository for Pennsylvania state documents. Historic collections from the League of Nations and the Organization of American States, and comprehensive historic runs of British parliamentary papers, in addition to similar historic legislative document series from French and German national bodies, are also available in print, online, and microform formats.
