The Academic Engagement Council will promote deep, effective academic engagement of Penn librarians with faculty and students by embedding high-quality disciplinary research expertise into the research lifecycle and supporting the use of new technologies in the research workflow. It will further the impact and accessibility of Penn scholarship by advising authors on how and where to publish; communicating effectively to ensure users are aware of the Libraries’ services, collections, and staff expertise; and improving the quality of research services provided through all communication channels. It will partner with faculty on systematic reviews, expanding the service to data screening and, where applicable, beyond the health sciences to the social sciences and business. Finally, it will devise benchmarks for staff competencies that are responsive to assessment, need, and impact, and provide documentation and regular training opportunities related to those areas.
