Coffee with a Codex: Astronomy

An informal lunch or coffee time to meet virtually with Kislak curators and talk about one of the manuscripts from Penn's collections. Each week we'll feature a different manuscript and the expertise of one of our curators. Everyone is welcome to attend.

For our first Coffee With A Codex of 2024, on January 11, Curator Dot Porter brought out LJS 57, a collection of astronomical texts, including a copy of a treatise on the calendar originally compiled for Pedro IV, King of Aragon, with an almanac of oppositions and conjunctions of the sun and moon and predictions of lunar and solar eclipses. (OPenn, BiblioPhilly, Internet Archive, CWAC recording)
