Copyright Chat: Back to Basics with the Substantial Similarity Standard

In copyright law, a work doesn't have to be a verbatim copy of another to constitute copyright infringement. Instead, the law requires the two works to be "substantially similar" for the later one to be a copy. Unfortunately, however, figuring out what is substantial similarity is not always an easy task. In this month's copyright chat, we will try to make sense of the substantial similarity standard in copyright law while highlighting some recent case law involving tattoos, music, and visual art.

Please RSVP to attend in-person or to receive a Zoom link for the workshop.
