Join Prof. Schofield (Kings' College, London) in an informal discussion about UPenn LJS 63, an important illuminated manuscript copy of Khushhal Khan's Rag Darshan, now in the Penn Libraries' collections. This text, a treatise on musical modes, features prominently in Prof. Schofield's work and is one of the most-used South Asian manuscripts at the Kislak Center. Prof. Schofield is in residence at Penn this April to give a series of lectures in the Department of South Asia Studies on the theme "The illiterate Ustad and Other Myths: Writing on Music in the Late Mughal World."
