Featured Collections

The Penn Libraries' global collections encompass hundreds of languages and scripts across a broad range of subject areas, preserving the rich cultural and scholarly record from Africa, East Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South Asia. Japanese Women Photographers Collection

Over the past two years, librarians have worked to diversify the Penn Libraries’ Japanese photobook collection, developing it in both breadth and depth.

North African Books in French Language

To this day, the French language plays an important role in North African countries like Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia—but that role is complex and contested.

In the last year, the Penn Libraries has purchase of several hundred volumes related to South Asian painting, textiles, music, and dance.

Coffee with a Codex: Chants

On November 29, Curator Dot Porter will show us Ms. Codex 1572, a complete portable gradual with chants for the Mass according to the Use of Brixen (now Bressanone), possibly from a Benedictine monastic foundation. Written in the diocese of Brixen in the south Tyrol (now Bressanone, in Italy), between 1300 and 1325.
