Scribes of the Cairo Geniza
Thursday, March 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm
Come check out the Scribes of the Cairo Geniza project (https://www.scribesofthecairogeniza.org/) at this month's lunchtime workshop. Join volunteers to transcribe Hebrew and Arabic fragments of the 10th through 13th centuries -- even if you don't know Hebrew or Arabic. Penn volunteers have been participating in the project for over two years, joining nearly 4,900 volunteers online worldwide!
You’re invited to the Vitale Media Lab in the Kislak Center (6th floor, Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center) on Thursday, March 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, for help getting started and for good company while working on the project. First-timers welcome at every meeting. Come for any part of the hour. Bring your lunch, bring a laptop (laptops are available to check out on the Ground Floor, by the Tech Center), and give it a try.
