Word Play:
The Printed Game

On Exhibit: August 29 - October 16, 2011
Word Play: The Printed Game explores the various manifestations of "the game" in print. Games and books have inspired each other for centuries: everything from rulebooks to epic poems have been written about games, and great works of literature have themselves inspired games. The game developed hand in hand with printed media and emerged not only as a way to engage and interact with the literary, but also as an inspiration for works of art that play with the form of both "book" and "game." Materials in this exhibition highlight the dynamic and evolving role of the game in printed form. This exhibition is part of Penn's Year of Games.
