Established in 2011 by Jon Jachman, W'99, and Arielle (Goldklang) Jachman, C'97, the Howard R. Jachman Memorial Fund supports acquisitions in the field of Positive Psychology at Penn Libraries.

"We established the fund to honor my father, Howard R. Jachman, W'73, who passed away in 2009," Jon states. "He was an athlete at Penn, and later in his life spent a lot of time coaching children's sports teams in Baltimore. He was a kind and positive person. We felt a fund supporting positive psychology was an appropriate way to honor him. It also reflects Arielle's interests in psychology, as she is a practicing psychologist, and began her studies in this field at Penn."

Jon received a B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. He is a Principal and co-head of credit investing at Taconic Capital Advisors LP, where he has worked since 2001. Jon also serves on the Orrery Society Regional Advisory Council of New York, the volunteer leadership group dedicated to raising awareness of, and funds to support the digital and print collections at Penn Libraries.

Arielle graduated from Penn in 1997 with a B.A. in Psychology and Biological Basis of Behavior. She went on to earn a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. Arielle specializes in suicidal and self-harm behavior within the adolescent population, and in addition to running a private practice, she has worked at a variety of institutions including Montefiore Medical Center and the New York City public school system. Jon and Arielle, who met at Penn, currently reside in Rye, New York with their sons Matthew and Blake, and daughter Hannah.
