Lewis Mumford Collection

Lewis Mumford (1895–1990) was one of the foremost American intellectuals of the twentieth century. The Lewis Mumford Papers and associated collections document Mumford's work as scholar, critic, and teacher, as well as his personal life.

Collection Overview

The central collections documenting Mumford's life and career are the Lewis Mumford Papers (Ms. Coll. 2, 197 boxes), and a later donation, the Sophia Wittenberg Mumford papers (Ms. Coll. 958, 48 boxes), both held in the Kislak Center. Other smaller collections and more recent acquisitions complement these collections. Following is a separation list.
