Signage Purpose and Content

The Libraries provides a bulletin board for posting signs in the Undergraduate Study Center of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library and in various departmental library locations depending on policies in the buildings they inhabit. The posting sites are intended for Penn students, faculty, and staff to announce lectures and other campus events and information about University affiliated organizations.

Sign posting is not permitted in any other location than the sites designated above, including but not limited to tables, walls, windows and doors, water fountains, and floors inside the building; or on the exterior envelope of Van Pelt-Dietrich, the Fisher Fine Arts Library and Holman Biotech Commos, including entry porches and staircases.  Postings found in these locations will be removed.

Sign posting in designated areas do not require prior approval, but they must adhere to the following terms.

Terms of Use

All signs must comply with the University of Pennsylvania’s Guidelines on Open Expression, particularly the provisions in section III.B., as well as other relevant University policies pertaining to the dissemination of community information. The Libraries reserves the right to withdraw postings if the content violates the Guidelines on Open Expression, is offensive to individuals or groups and disruptive to operations or the work of library users. If instances warrant it, the withdraw of signs will be handled in consultation with the office of the Vice Provost for University Life and the Division of Public Safety.
