PennCard holders and some Penn affiliates may enter and exit Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center through the Rosengarten Undergraduate Study Center on the ground floor, and may enter and exit the Fisher Fine Arts Library through the 34th Street entrance to Meyerson Hall. Access to the College Green is restricted until further notice. The following groups of people may enter and exit Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center through the Rosengarten Undergraduate Study Center on the ground floor, and may enter and exit the Fisher Fine Arts Library through the 34th Street entrance to Meyerson Hall:

  • Current students, faculty, and staff with a valid PennCard.
  • University of Pennsylvania alumni with an Alumni PennCard
  • Those with a photo ID from the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), HUP, CHOP, Pennsylvania, or Presbyterian hospitals, or UPHS affiliate.  
  • Those who have registered to attend events being held in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center or Fisher Fine Arts Library.
  • Visiting researchers with prior arrangements, including reciprocal borrowers and courtesy borrowers.

To access the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center: From Walnut Street, enter the gate at Van Pelt Walk. Walk straight ahead, then turn right to enter through the Rosengarten Undergraduate Study Center on the ground floor.

To access Fisher Fine Arts Library: Enter Meyerson Hall at 34th and Walnut Street. Exit Meyerson through the front doors, cross the courtyard, and then enter through the front doors of Fisher.

Changes to the Franklin catalog

  • The Penn Libraries is building a new, user-focused library catalog.
  • Students, faculty, and researchers across the university are invited to participate in usability research and provide input on the new system design by joining the design task force.
  • The new system will be available for all library users to preview during the spring semester, and it’s expected to launch in Fall 2024. 

Masks are optional in all Penn Libraries spaces. 

  • In accordance with the latest campus guidelines, masks are optional in all Penn Libraries spaces. Masking is always an option for anyone who chooses to wear a mask for any reason.
