A New Direction for 2025

This year's fair marked a significant departure from our traditional format. Under the expert guidance of Christine and Tex from Education Commons, participants dove into the fascinating world of advanced manufacturing technologies. Tex and Christine demonstrated how 3D printing, laser cutting, and digital fabrication can bring ideas to life.

"We wanted to show the kids how digital design can come to life," explained Christine while helping a group of children engage with a small robot. "There's something magical about seeing their ideas transform from digital concepts into physical objects they can touch and interact with."

Battle of the Bots: 3D-Printed Innovation

Tex created innovative robot models using 3D printing technology. These remarkable machines featured different capabilities and functionalities that captivated the young audience. Children had the opportunity to use controllers to engage in exciting three-way robot battles, cheering as their mechanical champions faced off in friendly competition.

"The kids were thrilled to see how 3D printing can create fully functioning robot models with unique features," Tex explained. "It's one thing to see robots in videos, but controlling different models helped build and create a different level of engagement."

Racing Day: Mini Drivers in Training

Another crowd favorite was the battle bot racing activity.

Our team designed a challenging course with obstacles, including roadblocks, bridges, and rocky terrain.

Multiple vehicles were available, and we even set up charging stations to ensure continuous operation through driver rotations.

Every registered child received their "driver's license" officially granted by the Education Commons, adding an element of responsibility and achievement to the fun. The proud expressions as they received their credentials were priceless!

EMO's Driving School

The adorable EMO robot ran a special "driving school" where it demonstrated walking and dancing maneuvers. Children gathered in delight as this charismatic little robot showed off its mobility features and interactive capabilities.

Looking Forward

These kids aren't just playing with robots today—they're getting hands-on experience with the technologies that will shape their future careers. We're considering expanding next year's event to advanced robotics concepts and simple artificial intelligence demonstrations.

A special thank you to RDDSx space for hosting this event—all staff members and student workers for their tireless efforts in organizing this innovative event, and to all the parents who brought their curious young minds to experience the wonders of modern technology in our workplace.
