Since 1969 The American Journal of Nursing, in service of its mission to “promote excellence in nursing and health care,” has published a list of the best nursing books of that year. Penn Libraries collection plan for nursing includes these award winning books among its list of selection tools.
Each year, first, second and third place winners are chosen across 20 different categories of awards, such as Advanced Practice Nursing, Child Health, Health Care Administration, Neonatal Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Public Policy, Population Health, and more!

You can find a list of winners for each year on the journal's website. Once you find a book you are interested in, it can be searched by title through the Libraries' catalog. Both physical and e-book copies are represented in the collection. Physical books are held in the Holman Biotech Commons.
