Working closely with members across Educational Technology and Learning Management, Steve creates high-impact, high quality programs that are driven by students and foster evidence of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. He plays a vital role in aiding students in exploring interest in Library enrichment opportunities as he engages with the Libraries, the Penn and local communities, and broader world. He also co-chairs the new Library Learning Lab, which is charged with exploring emerging trends and new technology to provide instructional support and deliver best-in-class programming for University stakeholders, focusing on implementing innovative approaches to pedagogy and instruction across modalities.
Steve came to Penn from Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication, where he advised a diverse population of students on academic, professional, and personal goals as an advisor. He was also the Director of Academic Services and the Minik Writers Studio at Moore College of Art & Design where he provided academic support to all BFA and graduate students, overseeing The Writers Studio and Peer Tutoring program, Bridge program, and teaching first-year writing within the Writing Program. He provided leadership development in Moore’s honors leadership program and coordinated accommodations and services for students with documented learning disabilities. Additionally, Steve has taught Intensive Writing and provided academic support at Curtis Institute of Music and held positions at the University of the Arts including Director of Student Development and Activities where he focused on creating vision planning initiatives and learning labs for students to develop personal and program management skills.
Steve holds a B.A. in English and an M. Ed. in English Education from Temple University. He also earned a Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate from Drexel University. Currently, Steve is completing a certificate in Disability Studies, under Kate Fialkowski at Temple University where the focus is on culture, policy, action research, and intersecting identities. Much of his work and academic interests have focused on Accessibility.
