Valeria is a senior conservation technician, bookbinder, educator, and sometimes artist, born and raised in Philadelphia.

Before her time in the Steven Miller Conservation Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, she worked at Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. There she worked on many exciting projects for private clients, small and large historic/cultural institutions. She has also worked in conservation at The Gladys Brooks Book and Paper Conservation Lab of the New York Academy of Medicine, the Wagner Free Institute of Science, and the American Philosophical Society.

In her free time, she collects and makes miniature books. She is an active member of the Philadelphia Center for the Book and is on the board of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers. She teaches bookbinding and other paper-based craft throughout Philadelphia to both adults and children.

Valeria is a graduate of The University of the Arts Philadelphia, Masters of Fine Arts Bookbinding/Printmaking Program. She received a BFA from Loyola University New Orleans with a concentration in Printmaking.
