It’s a stitch menagerie! Come learn different types of sewing stitches used in bookbinding including pamphlet sewing, link stitch, long stitch, and more. Participants will be able to use these techniques to make their own unique bindings and will learn about the functionality of each sewing technique.

All supplies provided freely. No prior bookbinding experience necessary; all types welcome! Registration is required, and opens three weeks before the workshop.
Instructor Jess Ortegon is currently the Preventive Conservation Librarian at Penn Libraries, working to preserve collections across all library spaces through conservation treatment, housing, and collections care management. They received their MS in Art Conservation in 2022 and are a current member of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) and the Guild of Bookworkers.
