Celebrate Juneteenth & Hibiscus: Open Studio Print Event

Come print your own copy of a broadside celebrating hibiscus sabdariffa, red drink, and the Juneteenth holiday.

Recognized as a federal holiday since 2021, Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Red drink is often used to celebrate this holiday, rooted in the recipes and plants (like hibiscus) that enslaved people brought to this country from West Africa.

Open Studio Event: Regardless of experience, we invite you to come practice some letterpress-printing. Open to Penn students, staff and faculty, and members of the general public. Please email jesspe@upenn.edu if you'd like to attend and are not a Penn Card holder.
