On June 11, curator Dot Porter will be attending a workshop at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. While there, she will visit the Cary Graphic Arts Collection and bring out their 15th c. copy of Sacrobosco’s De sphaera mundi (On the Sphere of the World), which he originally wrote in the 13th century. Sacrobosco's work followed the Ptolemaic model of the universe with the Earth as the center of the universe. The Cary's copy of the manuscript is also a palimpsest, in which there are traces of an earlier text that was erased. The book is a gift of Irene Conley and Ethel Harris.
Note that the Zoom links for Coffee With a Codex are reusable - register once and attend every Thursday at 12pm EST / 5pm GMT.
