Coffee with a Codex: Devotional Roll

An informal lunch or coffee time to meet virtually with Kislak curators and talk about one of the manuscripts from Penn's collections. Each week we'll feature a different manuscript and the expertise of one of our curators. Everyone is welcome to attend.

On November 14, we were joined by Sophia Adams, a PhD student at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and BASIRA project intern. She'll show us Ms. Roll 1563, a 15th century roll of prayers in Latin and Middle English, including prayers to Mary, the Trinity, Jesus, and the name of Jesus, and several prayers to be said at the point in the Mass when the Eucharist is held up in view of the congregation. (OPenn, BiblioPhilly, Internet Archive, CWAC Recording)
