Coffee with a Codex: Encryption
An informal lunch or coffee time to meet virtually with Kislak curators and talk about one of the manuscripts from Penn's collections. Each week we'll feature a different manuscript and the expertise of one of our curators. Everyone is welcome to attend.
On May 30, curator Dot Porter brought out LJS 51, a collection of encrypted correspondence between the compiler and various correspondents, in approximately 150 alphabets, accompanied by transcriptions of the letters in Arabic. Written in Syria in the 15th century. (OPenn, BiblioPhilly, Internet Archive, CWAC Recording)
