Digital fabrication has revolutionized the creation of tools and prosthetics for people with disabilities by enabling highly customized, affordable, and efficient designs. With technologies like 3D printing and computer-aided design (CAD), prosthetics can be tailored to an individual’s specific needs, ensuring better comfort and functionality. This innovation has also reduced production costs, making prosthetics more accessible. Moreover, digital fabrication allows for rapid prototyping, empowering users and designers to iterate and improve designs more quickly, ultimately enhancing quality of life for people with disabilities.Â
Christine and Tex from the Education Commons will present some examples of these tools and talk more about the processes used in their design.
