Fashion connects, inspires, shocks, and empowers. Join Samantha Hill, Kislak Civic Engagement Curator, and Jessi Jha (SEAS ‘25), Community Projects Assistant, in a conversation about how Tokyo FRUiTS, a Japanese fashion magazine, inspires generations of fashionistas. FRUiTS took the fashion world by storm in 1997 when photographer Shoichi Aoki began to photograph “cool kids” in the Harajuku District of Tokyo. Since then, his photography has influenced fashion circles worldwide, spreading popular Japanese subcultures across the globe. Stop by to learn more about the context of Japanese street style in the 90s, the globalization of Harajuku Fashion, and why this all matters today.
