From Kyoto via Amsterdam, traditional Japanese lining methods for silk and paper inform conservation treatment at the Steven Miller Conservation Laboratory.

This talk by Sibylla Shekerdjiska-Benatova will highlight the unique qualities of handmade Asian papers and their use in conservation treatment, and will focus on preserving the cultural heritage and techniques that produce the materials used in conservation. In-person attendees will have the opportunity to interact with karibari board, silk and paper for scrolls, Japanese brushes, and traditional tools.
