Vitale: Intro to Illustrator for Vector Design
A hands-on beginner workshop introducing Adobe Illustrator and vector design, teaching students to create precise, fabrication-ready files for laser and vinyl cutting while building real-world, portfolio-ready skills.
Hosted by: Education Commons
Hands-On Introduction to Illustrator for Vector Design
Learn how designers, engineers, and makers use vector workflows to turn ideas into precise, fabrication-ready designs. In this hands-on workshop, students will create clean vector files in Adobe Illustrator for tools like laser and vinyl cutters while building real-world, portfolio-ready skills used across creative and technical careers.
Learning Goal:
Develop basic Adobe Illustrator and vector design skills for laser and vinyl cutting.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the session, students will understand the role of vector graphics in digital fabrication and learn how to prepare precise, well-structured design files so machines such as laser cutters, CNC mills, and vinyl cutters can accurately interpret and execute cutting, engraving, scoring, and printing operations.
Please note: This is Part 1 of a two-part workshop series. Intro to Vinyl Cutter—Part 2—will be held in the Education Commons on March 17. We encourage you to register for both sessions. In Part 2, you’ll create vinyl stickers using the vector designs created in Part 1.
