Edward Mally W'83 and Julia Lang Mally W'83 created this fund in 2005 to support acquisitions for Penn's Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts.  "The further development of the Rare Book and Manuscript Collection plays a very important role in supporting scholarship at Penn," said Ed.  "We place a high value on being able to ensure that Penn continues to have the best resources to attract top students and faculty for generations to come," said Julia.

Penn Libraries was delighted to have Ed join its Board of Overseers in 2004, where he has been actively involved and serves on the Development Committee.  In his professional life, Ed is Managing Director and Head of Research for Imperial Capital LLC, an investment banking and institutional securities firm specializing in middle-market companies.

Following her years at Penn, Julia pursued a career in finance for eight years.  She now focuses her time and energy on community and philanthropic endeavors.  Julia is a trustee and executive board member of Earthplace, The Nature Discovery Center in Westport, CT.  She is the webmaster, photographer, and publications designer for several other organizations, including the Westport Historical Society and Staples High School, and is a photo journalist for WestportNow.com.

In addition to the collection endowment fund, the Mally family has funded a group study room in the Weigle Information Commons, established the Mally Orrery Society Challenge Fund, and provided the recent start-up grant for a project to digitize the archival issues of The Daily Pennsylvanian student newspaper. As generous supporters of Penn since their graduation, Ed and Julia also established the Edward P. and Julia Lang Mally Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Ed and Julia reside in Westport, Connecticut. Their sons Adam and David are continuing the family legacy as current undergraduates at Penn, studying digital media design and engineering respectively.
